Nepenthes glandulifera x platychila , is a new hybrid from Borneo Exotics. Seems to have become available  late 2015 or early 2016 depending on which nursery imported it. Both Nepenthes glandulifera and platychila are used in hybrids heavily lately and I expect this to be one of the best yet to come out from Borneo Exotics!

Most Nepenthes glandulifera hybrids that I have encountered, consistently display great color, are very hirsute (hairy), and inherit the conspicuous glands for which the species is named. This cross is no exception and it shows with the gluttony of ants that this plant devours on a daily basis.

Nepenthes glandulifera x platychila Care Notes:

• Very easy to care for, both parents are adaptable to a wide variety of conditions, so it is no surprise that this hybrid will take that one step further and will be faster and easier than both parents.
• The parent species are found in close proximity in situ so that makes this cross interesting to note as it could prove valuable tof identify natural hybrids if discovered.
• Available for a great price, a little more than a ventricosa, but definately not a strict collector’s plant.
• Only time will tell how much variation is to be seen in this cross. I am looking forward to how the size and peristome develops from what I have seen so far.
• This Nepenthes hybrid undoubtedly shows great hybrid vigour, and however it develops will be robust and spectacular when mature.
