Nepenthes hurrelliana is found on multiple mountains in Borneo. So far recorded on Murud, Lumarku and Mulu. It was recently revised as conspecific with mollis after expedition to Kemul Massif concluded that N. mollis was the same species.

N. mollis had been described in 1925 based on the dense indumentum of the leaves originally without seeing any pitchers. N. hurrelliana was described much later in 2003 so for taxonomy N. mollis takes precedence.

I have a seed grown plant from Mt. Murud. From what I’ve seen the Murud plants have the best coloration and what was known as “hurrelliana” in cultivation. When I started in the hobby these were very rare and hard to find. Recently Borneo Exotics and Wistuba both have released clones in cultivation so they are more readily available, but still expensive in the States.

Not a lot of variation from the individuals I’ve seen in cultivation. The major TC clones available don’t include location but they appear to be very similar to my Murud plant.

Super easy going highland/intermediate that’s tolerant of wide range and temperatures and conditions. It grows at a very slow pace regardless, and looks amazing showing stripes very young.

Cultivation: Easy intermediate, very slow grower, mature characteristics on small plants.

Elevation: Intermediate/Highland 1300m to 2400m asl

Availability: TC clones available, not a lot of variation. expensive.

hi, do you think nepenthes with wide altitudinal ranges are easier than those with narrow range? Sorry for my bad english.
