Flowering Nepenthes diabolica

After moving to Washington from California in 2021 the conditions are a lot better for growing heat sensitive highland Nepenthes so my N. diabolica took off vining and flowered female for the first time in December 2021 with the flowers fully opening January 2022.

I posted this on my @youplants Instagram profile and received some pollen from @Jeremiahsplants (hamata) @NepenthesGod (edwardsiana, mollis & rajah) & @socal.exotics.sd (hamata x edwardsiana). From this I was able to make four successful hybrids

Seeds ripened August 2022 and after harvesting I split each pod with the pollen donors I placed in glassine envelopes then inside a ziploc + padded envelope for shipping. Packaging was based on recommendation from Jeff about how to send out seeds.

I sowed the seeds last days of August 30th and 31st 2022.

Really looking forward to these hybrids!! I’ve seen both N. diabolica x eddie & N. xSmilodon (diabolica x hamata) before and both are spectacular. N. diabolica x rajah and N. diabolica x (hamata x edwardsiana) are both new from what I understand, at least I’ve never seen either 🤠
